One year in Spain!
One year ago this week, we arrived in Valencia, Spain, exhausted from months of preparing for such a gargantuan move and exhilarated by the possibilities that awaited us in a new country.
Barely able to sleep, our first few days were spent wandering the cobblestone streets of our new city and wondering how this next chapter of our lives would unfold. (Full disclosure, we're still figuring it out.)
Over the past year, we've experienced the highs and lows of life abroad: navigating complicated bureaucratic processes with the generous help of kind locals, feeling the bittersweet sting of missing loved ones back in the U.S., shifting our thinking to Celsius, the metric system and 24-hour clocks, making and leaning on supportive new friends who relate to our wildly unpredictable emotions, stumbling through illnesses, doctor's appointments, and hospital visits (very grateful for affordable healthcare), discovering where to shop for staples like a tea kettle or cutting board, and slowing down to match the pace of this phenomenal culture.
Through it all, we're learning to find comfort in being beginners, giving ourselves grace when things don't go as expected, and continuing to trust in the kindness of others.
We feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be here and are looking forward to all of the adventures that lie ahead. As always, thanks for following along, y'all! 🎉🥇🫖✨ 💞
