Bienvenidos 2026!

Last year, we welcomed 2025 from a 17th century bridge standing in the chilly, pouring rain, screaming our heads off while watching the most mesmerizing, loudest fireworks show we'd ever seen.

This year, the holidays had a different flavor. We've been two of the "lucky" ones battling colds over the past couple of weeks, so between that and the lackluster weather (yes, it rains here), we've been stuck inside quite a bit - cleaning, studying Spanish, trying new foods, thanking our lucky stars for friends who offer and deliver delicious food, missing folks and traditions we experienced in the States, and feeling ever grateful for this opportunity.

New Year's Eve we woke up feeling a little better and decided to take a five-minute walk to the Children's New Year's Eve Celebration (Campanadas Infantiles) in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento where everyone celebrates with a "year-end" countdown hosted by a DJ, the traditional 12 grape eating (at midday instead of midnight), and lots of confetti so kids can experience the magic of New Year's Eve, just earlier in the day. Brilliant!

Wishing all y'all the very best 2026 has to offer. As the year unfolds, may you find peace, strength, and courage in your hearts. 🎉🍇🎆🧹 🎊 🤧 ☕😷
