Re-entry to the States has felt reflective of everyday life in many ways ... joyful, familiar, chaotic, and a bit unsettling.
Southern hospitality at its best was on full display thanks to our sweet friends Melodi and Michael who acted as our ride share from the airport and even shared delicious snacks, along with Renee and Sherman who welcomed and hosted us with open arms, and also provided scrumptious snacks. 😍
Catching up and spending time with folks we adore and hadn't seen in more than a year was so special. Our gratitude is off the charts.
Driving around our old stomping grounds reminded us we didn't really miss being in the car, particularly in the city and in traffic. Taking off on our first road trip, however, brought back loads of incredible memories.
We snuck in a few joyrides in the Jeep, walked and surrounded ourselves with nature, found inspiration everywhere we looked, and settled into the familiarity and comfort of a place we've known for decades, while balancing the sadness of leaving a place that became so much of who we are now.
The ever-changing waves of the Gulf of Mexico, late summer/early fall thunderstorms, and the breathtaking beauty of nature inspire and humble us daily. How'd we get so lucky? Feeling grateful.
