Spring part 2

Spring part 2 served up loads of inspiration, starting with a road trip to Denia & Javea (our first visit). Beginning at the Municipal Market, we whet our appetites by checking out the fresh selections of veggies, fruit, and seafood. Moving on to the Els Magazinos, we ate yummy gambas con ajo (shrimp with garlic) and patatas fritas, then jumped back in the car headed to Javea. After a walk along the beach, we made our way to the stunning Cala del Moraig (Moraig Cove) where Shannon schooled us in rock skipping. Muchísimas gracias to our sweet friends for playing tour guides and chauffeuring us around.

Next up was the Festival de la Mare de Déu dels Desemparats (Festival of Our Lady of the Forsaken), a Valencian cultural and religious celebration featuring the transfer of the statue of the Virgin from her basilica home to the nearby Cathedral. During the transfer, passionate devotees carry and pass the statue above their heads in a highly emotional display of devotion while other folks crowd surf their children toward the statue, hoping for just a  of the powerful monument.

Of course, it's not all rainbows and unicorns. We stared down a few curveballs involving taxes, bureaucracy, and healthcare (all is well - Rhys: 1,  benign uterine polyp: 0). Intermixed were coffee and park dates with amigos, poppy-spotting, and a bit of time on the beach.

Finding joy is our top priority each day. In every adventure, every setback, every stroke of luck, every bump in the road, every mundane life task, we look for the good. Some days are easier than others, but there's always good, and looking for it ignites a fire.

We're sending love and hugs across the miles. Stay cool, y'all. ⛱️🍤🍟⛪🏵️🌈🦄🥵
